Soldi Domani wins 2014 Belvedere Gold Edition Plate Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD) 3yo, 1200m.
Promising three-year-old colt Soldi Domani followed his promising first-up run when a late-closing fourth over 1110m at this track on 29 November to win in good style here. He was first out of the barrier and then eased to race in third place on the rails. He got a split to challenge at the 300m and then drew clear to score a decisive win by just over two lengths.
The favourite She's Miss Devine soon crossed to the led. She then settled nicely in front, setting a reasonable tempo (first 600m 35.62), grabbed a break on turning for home but weakened from the 100m, just holding on to take second.
Stroak settled in second last place in the 11-horse field from her wide barrier (10). She fanned wide at the home turn and made good late ground for a sound third.
Homehill was eighth, one off the rails, made a quick run at the 600m, going wide around the home turn. He then kept battling on for a sound (2.6 lengths) fourth. Cap Domingo, previously unbeaten in three NSW starts, all at Gosford, had a good trip in sixth place on the rails from his inside barrier (1). He got into the clear on turning for home but just battled on from there to finish fifth, beaten just under four lengths.
