Top class mare Catkins took her record to 14 wins from 29 starts with another excellent effort. She settled nicely in fifth place, one off the rails, moved up well on passing the 400m, got to second at the 100m and then showed her ‘will to win’ in going on to score by half a length.

Plucky Belle was slowly away and remained in last near last to the 600m. Linda Meech saved ground, steering her along the rails at the home turn and got through to take the lead at the 150m. She then fought on particularly well for a very good second, just finding the winner a bit too classy.

Avoid Lightning travelled nicely in third place on the rails and briefly looked the winner when she hit the front at the 200m. She then battled on well for a good third, in a very pleasing first-up effort.

Mardi led the field to the 250m and held on in good style, considering the rise in class, for (3.3 lengths) fourth.

Lilliburlero raced outside the leader (Mardi), looked a winning chance at the 300m but battled from there to finish (3.5 lengths) fifth.
