English wins 2015 Reisling Stakes Group 2 $300,000 at Randwick (NSW) 2yo Fillies, 1200m.
English was a little slowly away from her inside draw (3) to settle down fourth last on the fence about six lengths from the leader Tibrogargan Miss. Blake Shinn switched off the fence on English approaching the 600m and took the home turn three and four wide. She quickened up smartly, hitting the front inside the final 200m before peaking a little on her run but had enough in hand to score well.
Ottoman was taken back from her wide barrier (7) to settle down third last on the outside of Fireworks. She over raced in the middle stages before making a fast move from the 600m, wide out on the track improving her position to be turning for home in fourth position. She was one of the first to come under pressure in the straight but rallied again to push the winner the whole way to the line. A good effort considering the long run she was asked to sustain.
Fireworks lacked early speed and settled down in second last position on the fence. She travelled well in the run but was disappointed for a run at the top of the straight. Left a little flat footed on straightening, she worked home well between horses to be closing on the run. She will appreciate a step up in distance.
Mine Two was restrained to last from her wide barrier. She cornered widest of all and came with a big run on the outside of the field to just miss third. A good effort.
