Crafty Cruiser 2015 Roy Higgins Qlty Listed $120,000 at Flemington (VIC), 2600m.
Crafty Cruiser settled nicely in fifth place, one off the rails, behind a steady tempo. He tracked up well (with cover) rounding the home turn, challenged at the 300m, hit the front at the 100m and fought back well to score a good win.
Irish-bred Martinvast was seventh, one off the rails. He then trailed the eventual winner from the 600m and then kept fighting on well for second.
Rawnaq was fifth on the rails, got an inside run to challenge at the 300m and then kept battling on for a close-up third.
Beliveau plugged on quite well from the tail of the field for (2.5 lengths) fourth while the favourite Tuscan Fire led until the 200m before finishing (2.7 lengths) fifth.
