Given a perfect trip from barrier one by rider Lisa Allpress, Iamishwara travelled effortlessly in the trail throughout and once presented with a rails run entering the straight at the 350m he bounded clear for a dominant victory. Having dictated comfortable terms in front,

Jubilate was tackled in earnest by two horses to his outside approaching the home turn and although rolling out which made room for the winner he still fought well for second.

King Krovanh received an economical passage three back on the inner and after angling clear at the 200m he was doing his best work late for third.

Emerald Queen came from back in field before quickening down the outside for (3.3 lengths) fourth, to head off Ringo and Scapolo who fought well for fifth and sixth respectively after each racing handy to the pace.

Ezibuy Awapuni Gold Cup (G2)

Type: OPEN

This was a very slowly run G2 over 2000m at set weights and penalties and the easy winner from the trail was Iamishwara in 2:04.04. The gelding has come solid of late with a G1 win at WFA over a mile three starts ago then a respectable sixth at G1 under WFA at 2000m clockwise two starts ago. He was winning his first middle distance race today and his twelfth victory overall from fifty-eight starts so has been a busy gelding. The pacemaker and runner up Jubilate was having his first crack at 2000m and got away with a ludicrous tempo throughout that amounted to a 400m sprint home in essence. King Krovanh was third in his first attempt at G2 after sitting midfield the inside mostly not spending an extra penny. Emerald Queen defied the race finish pattern by coming home strongly late from the rear trio mostly and she really found the line well the final stages. Ringo loomed large turning for home and fought on okay while Scapolo did not quite run the trip after sitting outside the leader plus he may need wet ground these days. Nashville warmed up too late for eighth but in a race as pedantic as this was never going to be a factor at the finish. Farm Boy got found out under the weight conditions of the race while The Tidy Express was poor and Survived even worse. The Tidy Express can be forgiven as the race was a sprint home and Survived choked down the run home. This is not a trustable G2 race as purely a sprint home and five of the first six on settling filled those positions at the finish bar Emerald Queen that ran on gamely. A miler finished second and a four-win gelding finished third at his first ever G2 attempt. The winner Iamishwara was way too good at 58kg but so he should have been as he won at G1 under WFA under 59kg three starts back.
