2015 Waroa - Lee Steere Stakes Group 2 November 7 - Ascot

3 minute read

Black Heart Bart wins 2015 Waroa - Lee Steere Stakes Group 2 $250,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo+, 1400m.

Black Heart Bart is now unbeaten in three runs this preparation. He settled in sixth place, one off the rails, went deep rounding the home turn, challenged at the 200m and finished a bit too well to score another very smart win.

Magnifisio, winner of this race last year, settled in last place in the seven-horse field and remained there to the home turn. She went wide on straightening and came with a strong late run for a very good second.

Dual Derby winner Delicacy had an ideal run behind the leader (Fuchsia Bandana), moved up well on turning for home and briefly looked the winner taking the lead at the 100m but she battled a bit from that point for a sound third at her first run since winning the SA Derby (Gr 1, 2500m) in May.

Wink And A Nod was fourth, one out and one back, improved coming to the home turn and then fought on for (2.3 lengths) fourth while Fuchsia Bandana led the field to the 200m before finishing (2.5 lengths) fifth.
