The Michael Freedman-trained four-year-old made it three first-up victories from four campaigns in winning the Victoria Racing Club Trophy Class 3 over 1200 metres on the all weather track at Kranji.

Caught slightly wide early, jockey Corey Brown was able to get Brahma Circus into trailing position and when peeled wide on the turn he launched a strong sprint in the straight.

The well-fancied Lim’s Rally weaved through runners and posed a challenge in the straight but Brown was able to extract plenty out of Brahma Circus for a strong 1.3 length victory.

It was the gelding’s fourth career victory from 15 starts and he has yet to miss a place in six runs at 1200 metres but it is worth noting that he has only once been successful outside of his resuming run.

Brown has forged a good association with Brahma Circus, as while it was only their second win together the jockey has ridden him to a place in eight of nine runs.

Brown scored a winning double courtesy of Time Odyssey’s victory in the RDA Cup Open Benchmark 61 over 1800 metres.

Time Odyssey has come back a better horse this campaign, the victory his second in succession and third overall in 13 starts.

The four-year-old had won by four lengths at his previous run and again proved a class above his rivals as a warm favourite on Sunday.

In a race run in driving rain, Time Odyssey trailed the speed throughout before Brown made his move on the turn and took over early in the straight.

The gelding dug deep and drew away in the run home to beat Hee’s A Maverick by 2.3 lengths.

Time Odyssey had never won beyond 1200 metres before this campaign but has gone to a new level at the longer trips and is capable of winning again in the right grade.

The improving Cactus Jack concluded the program with a win in the class 4 over 1200 metres for trainer Cliff Brown.

It was Cactus Jack’s second win from four outings, both victories coming in his three runs so far this campaign.

A strong winner when resuming, Cactus Jack had been luckless when caught wide last start but here jockey Michael Rodd drove the four-year-old forward to sit outside the leader.

Travelling sweetly on the turn, the gelding quickly took over in the straight and broke right away to beat Constance’s Spirit by three lengths.

He looks a horse that can continue to improve and climb through his grades as he matures.

My Lucky Strike showed his liking for the all weather track when returning to the surface and the winner’s circle in the Kranji Stakes over 1200 metres at the Friday night meeting.

The four-year-old had been out of the placings at his last two runs on the turf but he is a different horse on the all weather, scoring his eighth win from 11 tries on the track.

My Lucky Strike travelled wide in the run but travelled well for Manoel Nunes and finished powerfully to beat Magneto by a head on the line.

The gelding had never before won beyond 1100 metres and was some query at the distance but Nunes timed his run to perfection and extracted plenty out of My Lucky Strike late.

Speedy Dragon looked one of the more progressive winners on the program in taking out the class 3 over 1200 metres.

Speedy Dragon had been a warm favourite at his previous run but a poor getaway ruined his chances.

The three-year-old was on better behaviour on Friday and after jumping well he settled just behind the pace and after a moment of tightening on the bend, unleashed strongly to put the race away and draw clear to win by 1.5 lengths.

It was Speedy Dragon’s fourth win from just seven career runs and he could be one to watch as he progresses through his grades.
