Trainer Desmond Koh looks to have unearthed quite the promising type with debutant Mr Luck saluting easily in the second event on Sunday afternoon.

While failing to set the track alight in his two trials in the lead up, the son of Kitten's Joy was never in doubt when leading throughout over 1000m.

Ridden by Benny Woodworth the four-year-old jumped away fairly on the inside before mustering speed to find the front.

Shadowed on the outside by the John O'Hara trained Prechagorda, Mr Luck held his spot along the rail and always travelled strongly.

Mr Luck

Shaken up passing the 300m, Mr Luck quickly beat off Prechagorda and drew two lengths clear.

Full of running inside the 200m, he drew further in front and went to the line to score by three-and-a-half lengths.

With only three races held on the polytrack it's hard to get a good guide as to how fast/slow the track was playing however when taking a line through Kam's Comet, Mr Luck is clearly an above average maiden winner.

Comparatively not a great deal separated the two on raw times and while sometimes dangerous to do so, the extensive beaten margins confirmed Mr Luck's impressive performance.

Mr Luck defeated third placegetter Mr Jackson by five lengths with a further three lengths back to eighth.

Plenty of interest now surrounds Mr Luck's second career start as it should provide a better guide as to where he sits.

With a three-and-a-half length winning margin up his sleeve, if able to use that to his full advantage he should prove hard to beat again.

At this stage Mr Luck remains an above average maiden winner and is definitely one to place in your blackbook.

Kam's Comet

Fellow talented four-year-old Kam's Comet collected his seventh win from 13 starts when simply too good in the seventh event.

Admittedly quite disappointing two back the son of Danroad bounce right back to form when returning a new career peak over the 1100m journey.

Ridden by Mohd Firdaus, Kam's Comet jumped away well from the inside draw and enjoyed a favourable run in transit just off the speed.

Tracking into the race strongly approaching the straight, he took a while to balance up but once he did he displayed a sharp turn of foot to drop his rivals inside the 200m.

Racing away over the concluding stages Kam's Comet went to the line to score by two-and-a-half lengths continuing his upwards rating spiral.

Since resuming in October last year, Kam's Comet has improved close to 20 pounds and is clearly a galloper heading in the right direction.

Whether Walker now elects to throw him in the deep end remains to be seen, however he is clearly a nice type and is one worth sticking with.

Infantry

On Friday night the Alvin Tan trained Infantry brought up his third win from five starts albeit a dead-heat with the Mark Walker trained Rockfast.

Lining up against the older horses the three-year-old clearly appreciated the step up in trip when returning a new career peak.

Having continued to impress over the 1200m journey he had always given the impression he would be better over further and he quickly confirmed those claims.

Yet to finish outside the first two placings, he remains a nice horse moving forward and is expected to continue his upwards rating spiral in upcoming events — stick with him.
