2015 Perth Cup (Gr 2, 2400m) winner Real Love slotted in to be fifth, off the rail, with a round to go, then found the fence into fourth as they started down the long back straight. Real Love lobbed along in fourth then crept up, two out, to be handy before the long home straight. At the 400m she kept up her run and issued a challenge and by the 200m had stolen a half length break where she was ridden all out to the line, just holding out a determined Dandy Gent. Dandy Gent was third around the bend and turning in. He had to wait for a run but when the needed gap opened up he tried gamely to get by the winner but she just held him off. Black Jag lay second into the home straight, grabbed a narrow lead at the 400m then battled on for third at the post.
