2016 D C McKay Stakes Group 3 May 7 - Morphettville

3 minute read

Super One wins 2016 D C McKay Stakes Group 3 $120,000 at Morphettville (SA), 1100m.

Super One, who showed considerable potential as a twoyear-old winning his first four starts in Singapore, scored his first win in Australia in good style here. He was quickly away and went straight to the front. He then steadied the mid-race pace, dashed clear on turning for home and went on to score a smart win, sprinting home his last 600m in 33.26.

Daytona Grey settled in seventh place on the rails from his inside barrier (1) before improving along the inner to be third at the home turn. He then continued along the rails and battled well for a sound second.

Heart Of A Lion raced in second place to the home turn and held on quite well for third.

Nostradamus was sixth, one off the rails, went deep on turning for home and battled on for (2.7 lengths) fourth, in the sprint home.

The favourite Thermal Current was a handy fourth, was under riding at the home turn and held on for (3.7 lengths) fifth in a disappointing effort.
