2016 Ipg Connect Chief De Beers Hcp Listed May 21 - Doomben

3 minute read

Straturbo wins 2016 Ipg Connect Chief De Beers Hcp Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1050m.

Straturbo began well and then eased to race in third place on the rails, behind a solid pace. He got a split on straightening, hit the front at the 100m and then went on to score comfortably after enjoying a good trip.

Wicked Intent settled in fifth place, between runners, before going to third on turning for home. He then kept battling on well for a sound second, without threatening the winner.

Plateau Gold went to the front and set a quick pace. He then held the lead until passing the 200m and fought back quite well for third after running a bold race.

The favourite Selita, who was resuming, raced in sixth place, one off the rails, before making a wide move rounding the home turn. She briefly looked a winning chance at the 200m but then kept battling on quite well for a sound first-up fourth, beaten just over three lengths.
