2016 City Of Ipswich Eye Liner Stks Listed June 18 - Ipswich

3 minute read

Ninth Legion wins 2016 City Of Ipswich Eye Liner Stks Listed $175,000 at Ipswich (QLD), 1350m.

Top weight (59kg) Ninth Legion was always well placed before winning well. He was smartly away from his good barrier (3) and settled in third spot on the rails. He then moved up (three wide) coming to the home turn, got to the front at the 200m and then went on to win quite comfortably.

Beckham raced outside the leader (Daph ‘N’ Alf), got to a narrow lead on straightening and then battled on soundly for second, just finding the winner (who conceded him 5kg) too good.

Steel Zip was fourth, one out and one back, but was under riding on turning for home. He then kept battling on to take the minor placing in a photo.

Pillar Of Creation was sixth, one off the rails, put in a brief bid (wide) at the home turn but just battled from that point for (3.5 lengths) fourth.

The favourite Trubia was seventh, between runners, was under riding at the home turn and then just fought on, without threatening, for (4.4 lengths) seventh.
