2016 Fkg Group Spear Chief Qlty Listed June 25 - Eagle Farm

3 minute read

Tales Of Grimm wins 2016 Fkg Group Spear Chief Qlty Listed $100,000 at Eagle Farm (QLD), 1500m.

Tales Of Grimm enjoyed a perfect trip from his good barrier (3) racing in fifth spot, between runners before switching out on turning for home. He challenged strongly on passing the 200m and then finished a bit too well to score a good win.

Amovatio was last in the eight-horse field before getting between runners rounding the home turn. He got a late split at the 100m and then ran on nicely for a good second.

Aldini was a handy third, but caught wide without cover. He challenged on straightening and then fought well for a good second.

Beckham went to the front and led the field to the 200m before finishing (1.1 lengths) fourth while the favourite Hopfgarten raced outside the leader to the home turn but disappointed in finishing (5.4 lengths) fifth, racing below his previous good form in the Soft5 conditions.
