Faatinah wins 2016 Bobbie Lewis Qlty Group 2 $200,000 at Flemington (VIC) 4yo+, 1200m.
Lindsay Park-trained Faatinah resumed after his good SA campaign of two wins (including one at Group Two level) in three starts there to score a smart first up win. He showed pace and shared the lead (with Kinglike) on the favoured Grandstand side before going clear at the 400m. He then held on strongly and went on to score quite impressively.
Tivaci raced in sixth place, not that far off the lead and racing near the Grandstand side. He went to second at the 100m and fought well to hold that position, without threatening the winner.
We've Got This was last in the 12-horse field to the 400m and made good late ground, also racing on the preferred Grandstand side, for a good third.
Under The Louvre was back in ninth place, but (for him) not that far from the leaders. He went through to fourth nearing the 100m and battled well under his top weight (59kg) to hold that position, finishing 2.2 lengths from the winner in a very sound effort in conceding 6kg to the placegetters.
Of the others Kinglike disappointed in tiring for (4.4 lengths) seventh while Xtravagant raced many lengths below his excellent New Zealand form, dropping out to finish last in an effort that suggested something was amiss.
