The well-supported Moral Victory settled back in fifth place, behind a good tempo, improved along the rails rounding the home turn, got through to challenge at the 200m and then finished too well to score a good win.

Caped Crusader was trapped deep and was forced to work before finding the lead at the 1000m. He then fought back really well for a good second, considering his early efforts.

Cosmic Cube raced in fourth place, put in a run at the 300m and fought well to take the minor placing.

Old North raced back in second last place in the seven-horse field, looked a threat at the 300m and then kept battling on quite well for (3.9 lengths) fourth while the favourite Hi World was third to the home turn but disappointed in finishing (6.5 lengths) sixth, perhaps not racing up to expectations with his best form being on rain affected tracks.
