Great Shot wins 2017 Cyril Flower Stakes Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo+, 1200m.

Great Shot scored a good first up win, his second at stakes level in 13 starts after taking out the 2016 Belmont Guineas (Listed, 1600m) last year. He began well from his wide barrier (11) and he worked in the early stages before settling outside the leader (Potent Secret). He challenged at the 200m, lifted gamely under pressure to hit the front at the 50m and then fought well to score a good win.

Dream Lifter raced in fifth place, one off the rails, went deep rounding the home turn, challenged on passing the 100m and fought on well for second while Potent Secret went to the front, grabbed a break on straightening and held on well for a close up third after running a bold race.
