Now three wins and four placings in seven starts this preparation, Classic Uniform jumped best from barrier three and went straight to the front. Apprentice jockey, Andrew Adkins kept the pressure on past the 1600m then eased a tad at the 1400m but still led. Carrying his head quite low, Classic Uniform took them past the 800m then just before straightening Adkins shook the reins and they tried to break clear. Classic Uniform was passed at the 150m but fought back to regain the lead right at the line and scored a narrow victory.

Red Excitement ranged up three wide approaching the last corner, grabbed the leader at the 300m and these two battled it out in a dour struggle with only a head between them at the finish.

Song And Laughter was last at the 600m, stayed nearer the rail turning in and ran on to just hold third.
