Joao Moreira, settled the favourite Circular midfield on the fence after an average beginning from barrier one. The leading three broke away but Circular sat sixth, giving them seven or eight lengths at the 800m, however Moreira saved ground and had the mare a handy second when they straightened. Inside the 200m they levelled up to the leader, finally grabbed a narrow lead at the 50m and then held on by a head at the post.

Zasorceress was second last (rails) around the bend and past the 800m, still well back into the straight, threaded through then pulled wide to make a slashing run, just failing to pick up the winner.

Miss Rose De Lago led them past the 800m and into the home straight, led by a couple of lengths at the 400m, held the winner to the 100m and held on well for third.

Pure Pride ran up five wide turning in, looked threatening at the 200m and battled away well into (1.1 lengths) fourth.
