2017 Carriers Arms Htl Riverton Cup Listed April 15 - Riverton

3 minute read

Patrick Erin wins 2017 Carriers Arms Htl Riverton Cup Listed NZ$60,000 at Riverton (NZ), 2147m.

The first two home had the race to themselves with up-andcomer Patrick Erin securing win 7 from 15 starts. He was third, one out, passing the judge with a round to go improving to second down the back straight but lost two places when two riders behind decided that the pace was too slow. Edging closer into third at the 600m he benefitted from a lovely split upon straightening, grabbed the lead soon after and set sail for the line. He had only to hold out one challenge from Revelator.

Revelator the eightyear-old, who was sixth at the 800m, pulled widest but one turning in and was the only real challenge to the winner. He tried hard the length of the straight but was outstayed, the first two being well clear.

Motorboat Mike and leader La Nouvelle Vague battled away for third and fourth while favourite Miss Three Stars, trying for three successive Riverton Cups, showed little in finishing fifth.
