2017 Taxibox Brc Sprint Group 3 May 20 - Doomben

3 minute read

Jungle Edge wins 2017 Taxibox Brc Sprint Group 3 $125,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1350m.

Victorian-trained sprinter Jungle Edge again showing his preference for affected tracks, where he has scored all of his 11 wins, with a smart all-the-way win here. He was quickly away from barrier nine, went to the front, grabbed a clear break on straightening and was not threatened from that point to win well.

High Midnight raced in third place, went to second on turning for home and fought on well to hold that position, without looking likely to trouble the winner.

Ulmann raced in fifth place, on the rails, went to fourth on straightening and ran on well late for third, just missing second in a photo.

The favourite, the New Zealander Splurge, was slow to move, settled near the tail of the field but failed to run up to his previous good form and raced well below his best at his Australian debut to finish (11 lengths) ninth.
