Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 25th and 27th of August

3 minute read

Situation has stamped himself as a horse to follow going forward after yet another win in the Class 4 over 1400m at Kranji on Sunday.

Formerly with the Aiden O’Brien stable in Ireland, Situation has now won two of his four starts in Singapore and has improved with each run.

Coming off a very narrow win over Oliver the start prior, Situation settled just off the leaders from barrier six before running on very well in the straight to record a good win by just under three lengths from Gold Crown with Tachi Belt third.

Situation ran his highest rating since coming to Singapore and has gradually improved at each outing since joining the Ricardo Le Grange stable.

The three-year-old War Front gelding still has more to come based on his form in Ireland and he can now continue to work his way through the grades.

Having now won between 1200-1600m, Situation appears to be a versatile horse and open to further improvement looks a horse on the rise.

Caorunn

Earlier in the day Caorunn secured a much deserved win in the Kranji Stakes C after settling on the speed throughout.

Proving too strong for Lim’s Shot over the concluding stages to win by a half length, Super Fortune was a further length and a half back in third.

Caorunn ran up to his prior start when runner up to Super Fortune in a Class 3 also over 1200m where he appears to do his best racing.

In what was a very competitive race, Lim’s Shot in second would have lost no admirers on the back of two wins prior, running the highest rating of his career on Sunday.

The Laurie Laxon-trained runner went straight to the lead once again but unlike his previous two efforts just found one better.

Super Fortune in third was also able to run up to his previous outings, also winning his two starts prior and this race definitely looks a good formline going forward.

Mr Fatkid

Friday night saw several interesting winners including Mr Fatkid who returned with a very nice victory in the Class 3 over 1400m.

Last seen when winning over 1800m in May, the Cliff Brown trained runner showed his versatility with wins from 1200m-1800m.

Jumping from barrier 3, Mr Fatkid settled midfield before running on strongly along the rail in the straight to win by just over a length from Awatere in second with Guilty Pleasures third.

Mr Fatkid ran just below what he produced when winning before a spell but would expect the lightly raced four-year-old to show good improvement as he goes up in distance.

With four wins from only eight starts now, he certainly looks a horse on the rise that is progressing well through his grades.
