A Group One winner in December 2016 Thee Auld Floozie showed her class again to take out win 11 and increase her earnings to $528,360 with another nice win here. Visiting rider Hugh Bowman bounced her away to be handy early but she drifted to midfield and was three wide at the 1000m.

Bowman urged her to go forward and they were handier yet still three wide before straightening. Into the straight there was room to challenge and the grey went after the leaders, took over inside the 100m and had three quarters of a length to spare at the wire.

Lizzie L'Amour looked to have no chance at the 300m but emerged from the pack to unleash a powerful finish, running into second very quickly from Coldplay who co led at the 200m and fought hard to the line for third.

Montoya Star had to weave between runners from midfield to flash into fourth, not far away.

This G2 1400m for fillies and mares only under set weights and penalties saw the winner of this last year score again and the runner up be a good thing beaten. Thee Auld Floozie had not won a race since capturing this a year ago and in fact this campaign in four runs had been beaten in total twenty-three and a half lengths and had finished eighth, ninth, tenth and seventh. Today she was sixth and wide but kept coming the run home and led at the 100m to score by three-quarters of a length in 1:22.66. It was her eleventh win from thirty-five starts and she does like the 1400m with five successes now at this trip. Lizzie L’Amour should have won for fun but after jumping away fifth lost her spot to be eighth and surrounded so was in a dreadful position and helpless considering she drew gate four. She continued to lose spots and turning for home tenth or eleventh then started to unleash and reached sixth at the 100m. Such was the strength of her finish she went from fifth at the 50m to get second on the post and was in all intents and purposes a certainty beaten. Coldplay fought hard for third beaten less than a length after disputing the pace then accepting the trail on the inner before coming off and grabbing the lead at the 300m. She was headed at the 100m and only lost second on the post to her stablemate. Montoya Star ran on well for fourth beaten just a length after settling back between runners and losing her spot with the mare still ninth with 200m to go. Livin’ On A Prayer was on the pace initially then headed and lost her place to be midfield the inner but kept improving spots across the top along the inside and worked off before the home turn. She actually reached third at the 100m before being swamped the closing stages and ended up fifth beaten a length and three-quarters. Caprikosa was a game sixth after being back and wide due to an awkward start and she kept coming gamely. Odisha got well back on the inner but was running on for seventh beaten three lengths. Princess Kereru was a reasonable eighth and Somethingvain ran a much better race after working up outside the leader. Sweepstake led up and was headed at the 300m for her first clockwise raceday outing. Ja Ja Binks and Ruby Armani were average but Bella Court was not too bad late from the rear trio as was Lovers Lane as well. Our Abbadean was poor but Heni can be forgiven as she got checked at the 150k when the inside run got very tight and the door closed. There is always form to come out of these sorts of races as many mares go back to the real grades they belong in and perform. The first three home were the top three saddlecloths in the race and the most proven quality in the race so all carried 58kg and were giving 2kg to 3kg to the rest.
