Golden Rose bound colt Foxwedge has taken his first step towards resuming next month by winning a barrier trial at Randwick this morning in the fastest time of six 740m juvenile heats conducted.

The Group placed juvenile lined up in a 2YO colts and geldings trial over 740m at Randwick this morning and won the heat by a nose.
Foxwedge ridden by regular jockey Nash Rawiller who tracked the Jason Coyle-trained Fayez during the run.
The son of Fastnet Rock was kept under a hold in the straight and edged out Fayez in the final strides as his unraced rival was ridden out fully by Tim Clark.
The John O'Shea-trained colt finished in 44.20 which was the fastest of six juvenile heats conducted at Randwick this morning over 740m.
Today's barrier trial is the first of two Foxwedge is likely to have before resuming in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100) at Randwick on August 13.
Foxwedge has a main Sydney goal of the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on September 10.
Other winners throughout the 17 barrier trial heats conducted at Randwick this morning predominantly came from the stables of Gai Waterhouse and Anthony Cummings.
2010 Group 1 Metropolitan winner Herculian Prince won an Open trial over 1050m which also included another New Zealand-bred stablemate Go With The Flo.
It was his first barrier trial this preparation as he attempts to make it consecutive wins in the Group 1 Metropolitan at Randwick during October.
Midweek city winner Sweetest Melody won a 1200m Open Trial by six and three-quarter lengths over newly acquired stablemate and dual Group 1 placegetter Valdemoro.
Waterhouse also had a number of juvenile barrier trial winners which included Cyclone Stacey, Just The Tonic and De Burghler.
