Promising filly Fallen One will be aimed at the Group 1 Crown Oaks at Flemington in just over a month after her maiden win at Kembla Grange yesterday.
It's a quantum leap from a provincial maiden to the blue ribband but that's the mission trainer Graeme Begg is setting the filly.
Fallen One contested the Carlton Dry Maiden Plate (1600m) for three-year-olds and after a last stride win Begg will now send her to Melbourne with the aim of the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington on Thursday, November 3rd.
Tuesday's race was the third for Fallen One after a first up fifth over 1200m at Kembla Grange in May followed by a spell and then resuming with a fourth over 1300m at Hawkesbury on September 8th.
On Tuesday Fallen One (54kg) under Brenton Avdulla settled at the rear of the field from barrier 11 and Avdulla waited until they had turned into the main straight before making a move.
Dragonzone (56kg) and Hugh Bowman, after racing three wide for the trip, had taken the lead with 300m to run after the leaders had faded quickly and Bowman had set off for the line having being exposed too early.
Fallen One was giving away some 5L when Avdulla pulled her out for her run and then she was bumped as she set off. However, the Rock Of Gibraltar filly had a good turn of foot for this field and under strong riding by Avdulla she reached the lead with a stride to travel to win by a head over Dragonzone (Pendragon).
Rosini (54kg) (Encosta de Lago) and Kathy O'Hara were third, the margin a long head. The time was 1.38.90 on the Dead track with the final 600m in 36.74. Fallen One paid $7.50 on NSW TAB.
Begg immediately declared his satisfaction with the win and said that the filly would find the 2500m trip of the Crown Oaks to be the distance she was looking for.
Fallen One is out of the Zabeel mare Devil's Thumbprint so she should not lack for stamina to cover the classic distance which finds out many fillies so early in their careers. Owned by MJ Alati she has now earned $11,200,
