Sydney's leading trainer Chris Waller and in-form jockey Glyn Schofield combined for a winning treble at Kembla Grange today.
The Irish-bred Escholido claimed the Vinery Stud Handicap Bm70 (2000m) in a narrow win by a short-half head over To Dubawi Go.
These two went stride for stride to the line where four-year-old Escholido just managed to draw ahead for his second win from 13 races.
Schofield had to work on Escholido for that win, and it was certainly his judgement again that got Mossmoney home in the tab.com.au Maiden Plate (1400m).
Lassila and apprentice Yusuke Ichikawa went out to a good lead and were clear rounding the home straight before Frankenfurter started giving chase.
Schofield followed on his mount, and pinched the lead from Frankenfurter in the final few bounds.
“A gem of a ride by Glyn," Waller said.
"He rode her patiently and got her to right part of the track. If you look at her form she has been placed behind some pretty good horses and with form like that they eventually get to that level themselves.
“She will take benefit from that."
"She was a bit toey today at the gates and she came out and sorted of stumbled and ended up on her nose," Schofield said after the win.
"So she did well to put herself into a good spot."
The third win was Madam Nash in the Super Saver Handicap Bm80 (1600m). Schofield went to the lead and maintained it all the way to the line, although under attack over the final stages from Tackless and Peter Robl.
The wins took Waller's winning tally to-date to 69, well clear of his nearest rival Peter Snowden on 41. Schofield is chasing Hugh Bowman for the jockey's leadership with 45 winners to Bowman's 48.
