The John O'Shea-trained colt is down to contest a 900m Open trial at Rosehill this Friday which will also feature the likes of stablemate Hendricus, Disputes and Ingham Magic.

Foxwedge has pleased trainer John O'Shea in the lead up to Friday's hit-out and subsequent travels to Melbourne then England.

“Nash galloped him on Saturday morning on the Kensington track at Randwick and felt that he worked brilliantly and that he was right up to the mark,” O'Shea said.

“He hasn't worked as good as that was for a while.

“We are just going to give him a very easy week. He can trial on Friday and we expect him to trial particularly well in light of his work. That being the case, he'll go to Melbourne on Sunday and fly to England on Wednesday.”

Foxwedge was last seen when finishing at the tail of the field in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 14 won by Master Of Design.

O'Shea reported the Fastnet Rock colt choked down in the run and had shown no ill effects from the outing in his work since.

“Foxwedge has never been a horse to run poorly,” O'Shea told Sky Sports Radio.

“The only time he has run poorly we've found a problem.

“He looks superb, he is very sharp, very fit, he has enjoyed the freshen up. I've just got to keep things chugging along there and I'm sure if we can get him to England in one piece and have everything go right in the transition from Melbourne to London he will run very well when he gets there.”

Nine barrier trial heats will be conducted throughout the morning at Rosehill.

Outside of Foxwedge's heat, other horses worth noting include Adnocon, The Verminator, Madam Nash and Romanus.
