Gai Waterhouse could be poised to claim a feature race double on Wednesday at Newcastle with stablemates Proisir and Kontiki Park installed as favourites in their respective events.
Proisir will look to remain unbeaten from three career starts when the Choisir colt ventures north for the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m).
The talented three-year-old will face just seven rivals and has subsequently been installed as a $1.70 favourite.
Some of racing's big names should at least throw down the gauntlet though with Peter Snowden's Proverb considered the main danger a $4.60.
The Gerry Harvey-owned Shawano is quoted at $7 after a narrow defeat last start at Wyong.
Waterhouse will saddle up a two pronged attack in the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) spearheaded by race favourite Kontiki Park ($3.80) with stablemate Western Symbol ($6) third in market order with TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds.
Kontiki Park has hit the ground running this preparation and goes into the Cameron Handicap off a Long Neck second behind Tagus in the Group 3 Tramway Handicap (1400m).
Western Symbol while expected to need further, resumes following an autumn campaign where he became a dual stakes winner.
The John O'Shea-trained Lightinthenite at $4.20 and Tagus ($6) are others high in the Cameron Handicap market order.
