Scratched out of last weekend's meeting at Rosehill, Free Wheeling proceeded to follow up on his strong trial form to score comfortably over the unsuitable 1200m journey.

Sitting in just off the speed, the son Ad Valorem peeled out nicely on the turn before showing a good turn of foot to sprint away from his rivals.

"I was quietly confident all throughout he jumped well and put himself right there and travelled really strongly and he was good late," Snowden said.

"He's a nice horse who has always showed a bit of ability but I think this time through we'll see the best of him for sure.

"I think he's in for a good preparation.

Heavily supported throughout the pre-post markets, Free Wheeling was a little easy on track before firming in late from $5 to start the $4.60 favourite. Both Petman and Specter were heavily supported to beat the favourite and ran accordingly rounding out the placings.

Sydney's leading jockey, Hugh Bowman continued his fruitful association with the four-year-old with regular stable rider Kerrin McEvoy currently suspended.

"He's a quality horse, he's a black type class horse so it's good to see him in the winner's circle," Bowman said.

"I've ridden him now four times for three wins and a second so he's been a good horse to me.

"He's really matured a lot over the years and was just able to put himself in the gun run from the good draw and he showed his class up the straight."

Snowden said he look to target a couple of stakes races with the promising galloper with his main grand final likely to be at the end of the Melbourne Cup carnival.

"Our main aim is on the last day of the Cup carnival in a Group 1 race," Snowden said.

"There's a 1400m race there in a fortnight and the following week is the race over the mile.

"He's a nice horse and I think there is a good race in him."
