Spring Over For Adelaide Cup Winner

3 minute read

Adelaide Cup winner Norsqui's spring campaign is over after he suffered a tendon injury.

The recently crowned Tasmanian Horse of the Year pulled up lame after a track gallop and scans have confirmed he has damaged a tendon in his nearside front leg.

“The injury is not life threatening but it is definitely bad enough to prevent him from racing for some time,” reported trainer Walter McShane.

“We will either retire him or send him to Melbourne for stem cell treatment.

“We had a spring plan but it's all hypothetical now.”

McShane had mapped out a program leading up to the Melbourne Cup for Norsqui, who won the G2 Adelaide Cup and was second in the G1 Sydney Cup in April.

Norsqui's success last season paved the way for McShane to have a new stable block built on his Broadmarsh training property.
