French mare Verema has reportedly been euthanized after breaking down in the Melbourne Cup.

The Aga Khan horse pulled up abruptly about 2000m out at her first Australian start and was put down shortly after Fiorente won the race.

Verema most recently won the Group 2 Prix Kergorlay at Deauville before coming out to Australia.
