Twenty-two fillies have been nominated for the Gimcrack Stakes against eight entries for the Breeders Plate at Randwick on Saturday.
The two Listed races are Sydney’s first two-year-old races of the season, each run over 1000 metres and carrying $150,000 in prizemoney.
Newcastle trainer Paul Perry leads the way in the Gimcrack Stakes with three entries while Gai Waterhouse, John O’Shea, James Cummings and Scott Singleton each have two.
Perry also has two entries in the Breeders Plate, as does O’Shea and Peter and Paul Snowden.
Sixteen nominations have been received for the other Listed race on Saturday’s card, the Dulcify Quality.
Key entries include Wudang Mountain, Too Good To Refuse, Flying Achilles, Land’s End and Ambience, with the fillies Flamboyant Lass, Ocean Tempest and Sofia Rosa also holding entries for the Flight Stakes.
Nominations for the Breeders Plate and Dulcify Quality have both been extended until 11am Tuesday.
Other races to have had nominations extended include the Flight Stakes, Premiere Stakes and Roman Consul Stakes.
