Brisbane Lions thrash Sydney Swans to claim AFL flag

3 minute read

Lachie Neale and Will Ashcroft were among the Brisbane Lions' biggest stars in a dominant 60-point win over Sydney in the AFL grand final at the MCG.

The Brisbane Lions have claimed their first AFL premiership in more than two decades with a 60-point thrashing of Sydney in the grand final.

Lachie Neale (33 disposals) and Will Ashcroft (30) starred in the Lions' 18.12 (120) to 9.6 (60) victory in front of 100,013 fans on Saturday at the MCG.

Callum Ah Chee and Kai Lohmann both kicked four goals, as Chris Fagan's side secured redemption for last year's heart-breaking four-point defeat to Collingwood in the season decider.

It was the Lions' first flag since their famous hat-trick under Leigh Matthews from 2001-2003.
