Not a match that will spark much enlightenment at any time leave alone in the middle of Winter.
However for one side it will be a marker that could define the season.
North Melbourne is making progress that is for certain. After some excellent efforts without the reward, they were probably a little worse against the Dogs.
And yet after it looked like being a blow out early in the last, they regrouped and made it more competitive.
When they have these strong parts of matches they have to really hit the scoreboard. It's not enough to look back and see Zurhaar and Larkey haven't taken full toll.
In the Gold Coast, they face the team that has a demarcation line that starts at the Queensland Border. Brilliant home – horrible away.
At times they looked sublime giving Collingwood a pounding. Now that didn't last the whole game and in fact they lost the lead. But to their credit they fought back and won.
