Can the Philadelphia Eagles snare a second Super Bowl in five years, or will Patrick Mahomes lead the Chiefs to glory in his third Super Bowl appearance.
Chiefs +1.5 $1.90
If there were ever one rule when betting in the NFL, never betting against Patrick Mahomes might just be it. Mahomes is now showing up to his third Super Bowl game and is no doubt still fueled by the loss to the Bucs in early 2021. We've just seen what a fired-up Chiefs team can do as well, after hearing all week about the Bengals, Joe Burrow and the supposed "BurrowHead", Kansas City battled tooth and claw to come away with a victory against Cincinnati in which they made it very clear what they thought about that media narrative. What helped an injured Chiefs offense was their defense, usually playing second fiddle to Mahomes and the offense, Chris Jones took charge and silenced any hopes of a Bengals game winning drive with multiple pressures to Burrow. A secondary full of rookies making plays has injected life into this defense and has changed the usual narrative about the Chiefs.
The issue with taking the Chiefs here is that these rosters seem to be in completely different positions. Kansas took a lot of hits this past week, losing multiple offensive and defensive starters in their attempt to reach the Super Bowl. Philadelphia, however, has coasted through these playoffs, taking advantage of a weak NFC and easily dismantling every team they've played.
This is the problem with the Eagles: they haven't faced a true challenge this season, especially someone from the AFC. That's not saying Philadelphia isn't a worthy competitor - the Eagles boast one of the strongest rosters in the NFL and their defensive and offensive line are good enough to keep them in any game. We just haven't seen them truly tested yet. This game is sure to be a good one and the injury woes to Kansas City are likely giving the Eagles the advantage but in a game that should be as close as this one, trust Patrick Mahomes to do what he does best.
