Chesalon trained by Mike Bass and ridden by Bernard Fayd'Herbe, snatched the lead in the final stages to win the R300 000 Grade 3 Premier Trophy at Kenilworth on Saturday.

Variety Club, a three year old colt by speed sire Var, made the most of his weight advantage as he easily accounted for the R200 000 Grade 3 Matchem Stakes (1400m) at the country course of Durbanville in the Cape on Sunday.

Durbanville is country racing at its best. Sweeping green lawns, where families like to picnic, while the kids engage in a serious game of rugby or soccer and a small grandstand from a bygone era that provides much needed shade on hot summer days.
