Forbes racecourse is the home of the Forbes Jockey Club and is located on the Lachlan River 370km west of Sydney. Forbes Jockey Club hosts two meetings annually including the popular Forbes Cup meeting in August. Forbes racecourse is 1600 metres in circumference with the home straight and back straight almost of identical length.
The home straight is 350 metres in length and 20 metres wide while there is a long starting chute for races over 1400 metres giving a straight run of almost 600 metres along the back to the first turn. Horses negotiate a long sweeping turn fromn the 800m into the home straight. Forbes racecourse is also used for annual camel races each Easter weekend.
