For all his excellence over more than two decades, Glen Boss will be forever known as the rider of Makybe Diva – the three time Melbourne Cup winner.
Hailing from Beaudesert in Queensland, Glen Boss began his apprenticeship in 1986 at the age of 15, riding 60 winners in less than 10 months before moving to the Gold Coast.
In 1994 Glen Boss then moved to Sydney where his career began to flourish, going on to partner Telesto in the Group 1 Chipping Norton for his first major and then Flying Spur in the 1995 Group 1 Golden Slipper.
He incurred some bad injuries like in 2002 in Macau when he slipped from his mount breaking his back, putting him out of the saddle for an extended period and forced to wear a special brace for a long time.
With over 80 G1s, he has ridden with success around the world, and came back to Sydney in the 2019 Autumn to ride Brutal to win his seventh Doncaster Mile.
