“I thought she ran really well at Flemington. She travelled well into it. We didn’t have luck at the right time but I was really impressed with her run.
“The winkers on today definitely sharpened her up. She had a really good run and travelled well for me. Once we straightened and got balanced she really kicked and fought to the line hard.
Did he think he’d get there in time: “She was working at it on the corner, building and building. Once we did straighten and the runs opened at the 200 (metre mark) she built up and kicked strong then.
Did he think he won: “Yeah I did. Lachie asked me and I said ‘I think I got you, sorry mate’.
