“We bought her from Sledmere Stud who always do a fantastic job in the Melbourne Sale. She looks quite cheap now.

“She was really good. I’m a bit surprised. Credit goes to Oli because he was really keen to run her. I think if she’d put on another 40 or 50 kilos and I do think she’s a really good filly. Even this morning when the track came up a Heavy 9 - we don’t usually run first starters on Heavy 9’s - but with the Super VOBIS money you just have to take advantage of it nowadays.

“Oli said that he thought the track was still in the heavy range but he thinks it is a 9.

“She’ll go straight to the paddock. I was hoping that she’d do that (win) and obviously we got it right today.

“You can’t knock these races back. You’ve got to plan for them and look at them. When the pop up you take advantage of them especially if you have a nice horse to win them.

Atmosphere: “I wasn’t even here last year but I was just standing in the public for a race earlier and to hear people cheering behind you is such a fantastic feeling and I’m back everyone is back.”

Winning Jockey: Damien Oliver

“This is probably the biggest crowd I’ve seen here on a Tuesday. People not being able to come out they’ve come back in their droves which is good to see.

“The first time I rode her in a trial I said there was no reason not to run her if she comes through the trial well and she looked like she’d come on from the trial, too. It was a good effort and I think she’s a nice filly and there’s more races in-store for her, I think.

“She found when I wanted her (to) but she dug in when I needed her to.”

Will behave this week: “Very quiet. I’m riding light this week and I might say that I’ve learnt from my past indiscretions.”
