On Cumberbatch: “He’s a horse that appreciates being free flowing and he got held up on this inside. He bumped his way out which is good to see. He’s tough and he got there in the end. A really good win.

“He paraded today so much better than first-up. He’s a nice solid Saturday-class horse. He’s done really well there. Lovely win. Fantastic for the connections. Clearly the trick of sending him down to our beach stables worked, just making ‘a man of him’ having to go on the truck to the beach, the truck to the track, travelling a bit more in that relaxed environment. He was much better today and he raced accordingly.”

On Annavisto: “It was a hard watch if you backed her. She did not drop her head once which is frustrating for us. We have to work on that. I would have thought that at the furlong she’d drop her head but she didn’t help Ollie (Oliver) one bit. I thought she might’ve run last on the corner but for her to keep coming and nearly win was a massive effort. Definitely got a lot of talent. We’ve just got to work her out.”

Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah

Oliver was screaming at his mount behind her: “It’s hard to miss his warcry.”

On the run: “Great run by my boy. He’s a big steam train of a horse. When he gets going he really pushes his way out. Once he got into the clear I always thought that he was going to win but it was a little bit nerve wracking the last hundred (metres), he was stargazing and pulling up a bit.”

“We went straight out on him today (from the yard) and he was a lot more calmer and relaxed. He showed that out there today. He relaxed and gave me a lovely ride.”
