“I’ve got to say (it was) an absolute ten-out-of-ten ride. Very patient and I thought he was smart going to the inside. If he had gone back to the outside I don’t think she’d have got there.
“Credit to her. She really dug in when he asked for her. Credit to the owners, they’ve been very patient with her. She’s four and only just finding her feet now. She’s a well-bred filly - a half to Invincible Star.
“A city win is going to add to her value and we think she can go on with it. She will stay a bit further and she’s just got to learnt to really relax and Lachie got her switched off quite nicely and was good late.”
Advantage of jockey claim: “We thought if we were going to go up in grade then we’d naturally come down in the weights. Too often, and he’s riding well and with confidence, that was going to help. The key was also the track. She doesn’t have to be last. She ended up last. She just needed to relax and switch off. Invariably when you’re going that you’ll have to come back a pair or two.
“She’s found herself a bit shuffled back at times but it worked out today and she really deserved it.”
Scratching of Heart Of Puissance in Race 8: “We wanted to give him every chance of running, but I walked the track and got some feedback from the jocks and it’s going to be pretty firm by the end of the day. We’ve waited a long time to get him back to the track so hopefully the rain comes for Tuesday at Caulfield.”
Winning Jockey: Lachie King
“She made it pretty easy, the horse. Jumped a little but tardy. Was wanting to be a bit closer in the run but just rode her a bit like last start. I knew that sprint would be there it was just I could pick up the leaders with that strong tempo.
“I let them get around me at the top of the straight. Just rode her a bit patiently. When she went to the field she just found those gaps nicely and was too good.”
“I thought Intellective was still kicking and Dean Yendall had pinched the race at one point, but she won pretty easily. I thought I had a lot in hand but I didn’t get into her too much. It was a good win and she’s quite progressive.”
