Spacing her runs: “It’s that and we don’t work her much. The fitter you get her the worse she goes so she’s always about 70 per-cent fit and that works for her.

“Now that we’ve come across that we’ll space her runs and not train her much.

“She might run at Flemington in a mares 1400 (metre event). I think 1400 sees her out. I know she ran alright in the Thousand Guineas last year but as a four-year-old mare she’s probably coming back in trip and it’s easier to train her for a 1400 than a mile so we’ll hang around that distance.”

“It was a bit of an unusual position for her. Normally she’s not that close to the speed. While she was always comfortable she wasn’t really there at the 500 (metre mark) for me and not going as easy as I would have liked.

“I think that may have been why, because she was so close to the speed, but she presented well, acquitted herself nicely and performed to that level.”
