** FASTEST TIME OF THE SERIES & NEW COURSE RECORD **

Winning Trainer: Tony & Calvin McEvoy (Tony interviewed)

“That was incredible. That was absolutely incredible. The last heat, again, to run the record, that’s really flying, isn’t it.

“She’s a better class than Meteorite but he was on his game that night in perfect conditions. It was really exciting tonight. The young fella (Cartwright) did a good job and the claim was significant - half a kilo off the minimum for a Group 3 winner in this grade.  That was very exciting.”

The ride: “He did a good job, He showed a lot of maturity for a young fella. That’s what you need to be good in this game, a bit of push and shove and he was happy to do it. I’ll be using him again.”

Calvin (jokingly) claimed he trained Meteorite single handedly, Tony gets him with this one: “If you asked him before tonight he wouldn’t have known which colour she was.”

Winning Jockey: Matthew Cartwright

“It was great. She wasn’t quick enough to hold the lead but we just boxseated. I thought we were going to be a bit unlucky at the top of the straight but once we finally got out she was pretty electric and ran over the top of them super.

“Lesage was coming across pretty quickly and I’d be at my top if I led so I just came back and she relaxed well and had a really good turn-of-foot.

“She was reluctant, got her head up and we got in a bit of a bumping dual but once she got out she was electric.”

A winner at The Valley last Saturday, too: “It’s great. It’s becoming one of my favourites.”
