“I was actually quite surprised. The speed was so hot early and all of our horses were out the back door for a little bit. He had an amazing acceleration.

“We’ve got him nommed for the Guineas and the Derby so where we go from here, we’ll weigh it up. He could go to the Derby Trial or we could bring him back and go for the Guineas Prelude so we’ll just see what Daniel seems to think but obviously got the job done nicely today.

“He’s a really nice horse going forward.”

Winning Jockey: Daniel Moor

The track: “It walked quite well. Obviously it would have been quite firm before the rain came but Marty (Synan) has rolled the dice and he’s come up trumps here. It rode a little bit softer than it walked.”

On the horse: “I’m just so thrilled. The stable team have done a fantastic job. He can be a tricky horse to ride. The owners - Ozzie Kehir and partners, and Trent and Nat - have given us a bit of free rein to develop the horse and turn him into something we think he is.

“Sure, we might have been a bit unlucky at Flemington last start but by the same token you can’t be banging them out and winning every race. You have to develop them and we’ve done that.

“I think he’s shown today that he’s a serious contender.

“I thought he’d get up to the real classic trips - Derby, 1800 metres and races like that - but there’s a bit of water to go under the bridge.

“I was really impressed today that he switched off. At Flemington fresh he didn’t switch off all that great.

“Vicky that rides him work and the team have done a good job adding the crossover noseband today and it has proved the tonic at that hectic speed.”
