Winning Trainer: James Cummings (Sean Keogh interviewed)

Could this horse be a sprinter now: “Not quite. Obviously he was on a shorter trip than we’ve ever seen him before. Very satisfying for the team to be patient like this. They took their time with him.

“James elected to bring him to Melbourne to find the better tracks and he was very impressive today.

“Through his three-year-old preparation we’ve seen him run placings in the Gloaming and come down (to Melbourne) and contest the Caulfield Guineas. He’s got plenty of class, this horse, and it’s great for him to be winning over a distance like this.

“Jamie (Kah) rode two winners for us this week. She’s filling the horses full of confidence. She gave them a lovely ride.

What’s next: “After that, it was really impressive, we can sit down and look for a nice race next time.”

Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah

“He gave me a beautiful feel from the 600 (metre mark). I thought that if he lets down like he felt like he was going to (then) he would do it easy.

“The team had him perfectly prepared today. Even though the straight is quite testing for him - he’s probably more a 1400 metre horse - the straight allowed him to get out and get going a bit sooner. He was just so dominant late.”
