“Absolutely fantastic (to win here). He’s a horse that’s been here and there. He’s a bit one-dimensional but Dean got it perfect today.
“I’ve got to say a big thanks and well done to the staff. He’s a difficult horse to ride in the mornings but Glen has got him ready and perfect for today. Great win.
“He’s a steam train, really. You’ve got to keep rolling and I thought he was almost pulling him back a bit too much. He timed it beautifully and got the go on them.”
Warrnambool: “It’s fantastic. We all missed out on it last year but this morning at Ballarat it was typical Warrnambool weather but great weather here today.”
Winning Jockey: Dean Yendall
“Apparently it was a ten-out-of-ten ride. I’ll take anything when you win on them. It was scripted there by Matthew and I to let him roll a bit, which we did. I gave him a good kick up the belly in the first three hundred metres and then he switched off easily.
“We went at a nice even gallop. I wasn’t expecting them to be attacking me so early in the piece in the race. I didn’t want to take off at that stage, just let him be and be happy and then kick when I wanted him to. He’d obviously been really fit being over the trip at the last few starts.
“Fitness was the key and whether he was going to be bringing his A-game today which he did. A great effort by Matthew Cumani and his team.”
