Opinion on performance: “ I thought it was really good. Mick and I were hoping he would do that. He’s got a really good turn of foot and today was his ‘D’ day, big track, had every chance and I thought he quickened up really excitingly.”
Future plans with the horse: “No plans on race day. Look, Mark Zahra was quoted as saying he thinks he gained himself a Group horse, so fingers crossed he keeps progressing. You can see he’s always wanted to lay in, we brought him off a trial in New Zealand and he was the same there and he can do it (lay in) but i suppose he was quickening up so quickly he was entitled to do a bit wrong, so I suppose it’s going to be good when he gets things right.”
Ideal distance: “ I think a mile is perfect at the moment, whether he gets further in time I’m not sure. He can still be a bit fierce, he was a bit keen second up. Today he relaxed beautifully, obviously Jamie with good hands as well but there was a bit of tempo on which suited him and when he drops the bridle he can really quicken up properly.”
Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah
“In my mind I didn’t want to get up him before I really had to, so I waited for a long time to go for the whip. He was really straight until I had to give him a bit of dig and in his head he wants to roll in once the pressure goes on, but I was very happy once he went past horses and once her hit the line, he straightened.
“I was a lot happier with his last 100 (metres) than at the 200. He’s growing up, slightly.”
