“Coming back in trip with the addition of the blinkers seemed to have just done the trick today and got that edge on him. He travelled nicely throughout and Damien took control early on and put him in the right position and he wa able to go away with it.
“He was also nommed for the 2600 metre race tomorrow. We opted to come back in trip but make the addition of the blinkers so it certainly paid off today and it showed that he can still be very competitive over this trip as well.”
Winning Jockey: Damien Thornton
“I’m saturated but it was worth it. He jumped really well today with the blinkers and put himself there. We probably aimed to be fourth-fifth but probably just off the speed. He jumped so well that we just happened to be there (on the speed) and he still had Inverloch leading for the first 800 metres of the race which was perfect.
“We got to a point where we backed off just a little too much but I was fortunate enough to pop out and sit outside him (Inverloch) which was fine. It suited me and he was still in a really good rhythm and travelled strongly throughout. Didn’t quite go too early on him but knowing him just let them (try) and get to me.
“The blinkers definitely helped. I galloped him a couple of times at home and he always works quite well but I think they switched him on today especially dropping back in distance from the 2400 metres last time.”
