Winning Trainer: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace (Ciaron speaking)

“It was great. Super job by the team. I haven’t seen this horse for a little while. He’s been up at our Sydney stable and I thought he had really hardened up. I thought it was fluctuating his weight a little bit but after a couple of tough runs up there, he paraded well and the team have done a good job.

“Normally its the other way around when we send them up to them. It was a great job.

“What a beautiful ride by Jamie. I thought we were in trouble getting to the turn but she threaded the needle and got the job done.

“The owners have had a great season with Explosive Jack and the like. It’s a great way to round if off for them.”

Initial reaction after race: “Fair bump, play on. Bloody oath.”

COVID management: “Racing in general has done a great job. I do my best to avoid most of the lockdowns but I got caught there the other day. They’ve done a good job and they should be applauded.”

Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah

101 sounds better: “It does. Because Prebble still thinks he crossed the line 100 times so now I’ve beaten him.”

“I’m not one for publicity and the crowds but it’s a pretty cool feeling out there. We haven’t heard that roar from the crowd for a while. It’s exciting out there. It has been a great day.

The run: “When you’re on a horse travelling and the gaps open up, you can take them straight away. Couldn’t have planned for a better run, the horse is going well and I thought he was going to win more comfortably than he did but he had a think about it and hopefully he takes benefit from it.”
