Thoughts on the mares’ current form: “She is going great guns. She has always been a mare with good talent. These rain affected tracks, these are really what she needs, she’s only really failed when she has gone on good tracks.”
On how they go about campaigning her: “She is very adaptable. She does a lot at home, she does it within herself so even with space between runs she knows how to keep herself fit. We’re just hanging out for wet tracks so that is the reason for the spaced out runs.”
On using the 1.5kg claim of Will Price: “You come into these races and if you can get in below the minimum and take away as much (weight) as you can against these high class performers, you’ve got to do it.”
Winning Jockey: Will Price
“She always jumps well and always travelled well and Ben Melham gave me a good cart up and I was able to peel off his back late and knock him off.”
How advantageous was the wide draw: “I think it was. Usually you see the horses come down the middle in the straight. We had a lovely run in transit and were able to get to the right part of the track which was good.
Will you have a break: “I was going to try and get back home to Adelaide tonight, but that won’t be happening. I was suspended last week so I’ve got a couple of weeks off, so I’ll have to try and get a few mornings off trackwork, but I’ll see what happens with the borders and everything, but it would be good to get home.”
